VNA Groovy Stroll for Hospice

Break out those bell bottoms, headbands and peace signs and get ready to stroll for VNA Hospice!

The VNA Stroll for Hospice celebrates and supports the VNA Hospice program that has provided compassionate end of life care to over 14,000 patients and their families in our community over the last 38 years. Every year hundreds of individuals put on their walking shoes and take a memorial stroll through downtown Valparaiso to help raise funds to ensure the compassion and support of VNA Hospice is always there for our family, friends and neighbors when they most need it, regardless of their financial situation.

Founded in 1970, this year the VNA is celebrating our 50th anniversary and we hope you will join us in support of this groovy milestone. The team and/or individual who really gets in the groove in their 70's attire will receive an engraved brick award and also the honor of serving as the 2021 Stroll for Hospice Grand Marshal! We'll have great tie dye t-shirts available, our DJ will spin tunes from the 1970's and we'll have a love-in, all in memory of those we miss.

VNA Stroll for Hospice brings people together to remember their loved ones and to support the VNA Hospice program, helping the VNA continue to provide compassionate hospice care to patients and families facing one of life’s most difficult journeys. Anyone in the community who has lost a loved one or has been touched by VNA Hospice is invited to attend. The route is a little over two miles long, and the pace is slow and easy. Not up to the walk? Not a problem, you can skip the walk and simply relax and enjoy the park!

Individuals and teams are encouraged to collect donations in support of their walk. There are individual & team options, as well as donation & fundraising options. If you would like to fundraise...under the “Giving” section on the registration page choose either “create a fundraiser of your own (for individuals or to start a new team) or Fundraising for existing team (choose this if you know your team captain has already registered your team online). After registration is complete you will receive an email confirmation with instructions on how to proceed with your online fundraising page. You can include a picture and story behind your desire to raise funds. Then send your fundraising page link to everybody you know! Not an “online” person? Go to the link below and print out a pledge sheet. Make copies; give to your family, friends, neighbors, gym, church and businesses, etc.

Incentives to Pledge!

In addition to the memorial sign above, individuals and teams who raise $500 or more will receive a memorial sign and an 8x8-inch memorial brick, personally inscribed and placed in the Arthur B. and Ethel V. After the stroll, walkers are invited to a picnic at the Urschel Pavilion or bring a blanket to sit in the park. The menu includes hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs and sides including Culver’s Frozen Custard for dessert. In addition to a DJ, there will be lots of kids’ activities, including a bounce house, balloon twister, crafts, face painting, and more. The VNA Stroll for Hospice is a great way to build a new, uplifting tradition to celebrate and remember a loved one and also support VNA Hospice.
