A message from VNA President & CEO Robert Franko:

Update: Friday, March 27, 2020

In these extraordinary times of the COVID-19 outbreak, your VNA of Northwest Indiana is abiding by all guidance, mandates and recommendations from Federal, State and local health officials.

VNA Hospice Services: We continue to provide in-home care to patients in their homes, nursing facilities, assisted living residences and hospitals. We are observing a raised level of precautions, using pre-screening protocols, and utilizing the appropriate protective equipment when necessary.

VNA Horton Inpatient Center: We have limited visitation to no more than two visitors at a time and have restricted children under the age of 16 from visiting. Additional visitors are kindly asked to remain their vehicles until the other visitors have left; at this time we can’t allow families to congregate in our lobby, family areas or other common space.

VNA Meals On Wheels: We continue to provide delivery services to clients in Porter County. We are observing heightened precautions by screening delivery volunteers every day and working with our partner, Pines Village Retirement Community, on all safe food handling protocols. Delivery volunteers are restricted from entering clients’ homes at this time. This is for the safety of the client and volunteer.

LifeLine Alert Systems: We continue to provide LifeLine installation and troubleshooting services. When possible for new installs, we are having the unit shipped to the resident and will assist the resident with the installation over the phone. If the client requires more assistance we will screen for risk factors before sending someone to the home.

VNA Phoenix Center and Bereavement Groups: All in-person groups have been suspended until further notice. We are setting up online options. Please call Gretchen Gibbs at 462-5195 for more information.

Please understand that this is not how your VNA prefers to accommodate and serve our patients, clients and families. We are doing all that we can to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 virus and protect all of us so that we can restore normal operations as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation, patience and understanding.
